Marines have a motto: “No one gets left behind.” Captain Dave, who was deployed in Afghanistan, is living by this motto. He made sure his dog does not get left behind.
Captain Dave found a puppy who got caught in a wire at their camp. After freeing her, he gave her food and water. He also made sure the dog gets back home to where she lives.
The puppy has no intention of going back home. She keeps on returning to the camp where Dave was.
The puppy felt safe while in the camp while looking for food. The men also let her stay as they have seen the dog not treated well out in the street.
They named the puppy Sox. Sox would go wherever the soldiers go. Even if they are out on a mission, they will bring Sox with them.
In one instance, Sox was hit by a stick by a local when they were on Patrol. Captain Dave then decided that they can not leave Sox behind.
He then thought of bringing him back to the United States after their mission. He and Sox have already had a special bond, and he cannot leave her in the camp.
He is about to go home from his deployment. The thought of leaving Sox makes him sad, and he thinks that he will never be at peace. He was so frightened of what might happen to Sox if she gets left behind.
Bringing a dog to the United States from the Middle East was not easy, and it was expensive. It was made possible thanks to the people who assisted him in bringing Sox home.
The Guardians of Rescue reached out by asking donations from different organizations to help him bring the puppy back in America.
Captain Dave’s love and loyalty to Sox is what made it possible to have them reunited. He was also grateful to all those who had helped him bring Sox to the US.
