The Humane Society of The United States (HSUS) received a report that dogfighting activities were happening in North Carolina. They learned that there were two sites used for the illegal operation. One was in Jones County, while the other was in Pamlico County.
When they got verification for the information they received, they quickly contacted the local authorities. They then created a plan to raid the properties used for raising and training the poor canines.
After the raid was done, the combined rescue teams saved 50 dogs. All of them were living in disgusting conditions. Some were still puppies, getting prepared to be trained for fighting. One of them is a pit bull named Gremmie.
Life of violence
The dogs were all destined to live a life of violence. And most of the time, this would be a short life. If they don’t die during a fight, their owners usually dump them when they are severely injured or too old to compete. Dogfighting is always about profits.
Gremmie and the other dogs were very fortunate to have been rescued. The HSUS gave them medical treatment and transferred them to various private facilities operated by different charity organizations. To help them find good homes, the rescue groups post their photos and stories online.
They even created videos to show the people exactly how terrible their former lives were. Hopefully, this would inspire them to adopt.
The perfect pet
A woman living in North Carolina saw a video about Gremmie, and she immediately fell for him. She called the HSUS and learned that the dog was living with a foster volunteer. The lady then set up an appointment to meet the dog. And when they finally met, it was like they were meant for each other.
Gremmie was shy and timid when he was rescued. But his time with his foster parent helped him come out of his shell. By the time he met his new mom, he was a very sociable, affectionate, and cheerful dog.
The pit bull has made his new family very happy with his presence and they said that he brightens up any room that he goes into.
In a follow-up video by the HSUS, Gremmie is shown living a wonderful life with his new family.
